How to Send Handwritten iMessages in iOS 10 on iPhone and iPad

After digital revolution, we have lost the luxury of writing letters. Our smart devices provide us with smart keyboards to type in messages. A step forward, people use chat clients to send voice messages. All this took a heavy toll on handwritten messages.

Thankfully, Apple brings back the old glory of sending handwritten Messages in iOS 10 on iPhone and iPad. Messages app in iOS 10 has seen many cool features. On top of this, there are many third-party apps to elevate your Messages experience.

In the latest iOS updated rolled out by Apple, Messages app allows people to send handwritten iMessages. Users can enjoy good old days when they used to write letters.

How to Send Handwritten Messages in iOS 10 on iPhone

Step #1: Launch Messages app on iPhone.

Step #2: From the list of contacts, choose the one whom you want to send handwritten message.

Step #3: Tap on iMessage text field.

Step #4: Now hold your iPhone in landscape mode.

Step #5: You will see a blank white space on your phone.

Step #6: Below that blank space, you will also notice some ready-to-use pre-written messages to convey your emotions. You can use ‘Hello’, ‘Thank You’, ‘Awesome‘, ‘Happy Birthday’, ‘Congratulations’, ‘Thinking of You’, ‘I’m Sorry’ etc.

Step #7: You can send customized handwritten messages by tapping on handwriting button seen at the bottom right corner of your iPhone.

Now you can write anything on the screen; to get more space, tap on arrow button on the right.

Tap on keyboard icon to type in regular text in landscape mode.

To clear the space, tap on Clear button given on top left corner.

You can also undo your handwritten text by tapping on Undo button from the top left corner of phone screen.

Step #8: Finally, tap on Done from top right corner of iPhone screen.

Step #9: You can also type message in the text field. And then tap on Send button.

How to Send Pre-written Messages in iOS 10

You can use pre-written messages to save time and energy.

Step #1: Follow steps from 1 to 5 as written above.

Step #2: Below the blank white space, you can notice pre-written messages like ‘Hello’, ‘Thank You’, ‘Happy Birthday’, ‘Congratulations’, ‘Thinking of You’, ‘I’m Sorry’ etc.

Below that blank space, you will also notice some ready-to-use pre-written messages

Step #3: Tap on any pre-written message and tap on Done. Now send the message to the contact.

How to Send Handwritten iMessages in iOS 10 on iPad

In your iPad, there is a button on keyboard that allows you to use handwriting screen.

Step #1: Open the Messages app on iPad.

Step #2: Select a contact you wish to send handwritten message to.

Step #3: Tap on iMessage text field in iPad.

Step #4: A handwriting button appears at the bottom of keyboard; tap on it.

Step #5: A white blank space will appear on iPad screen. Now you can scribble or sketch anything with your fingers.

This is how you can send handwritten iMessages on your iPad. On your iPad, it will be a better experience to write messages as iPad offers bigger screen space.
