We think it’s safe to say that 2018 was a great year for Apple. The Cupertino based tech giant has launched lots of new devices, including three new iPhones that became bestsellers right from the moment they were announced. However, 2019 is looking to be an even better year for Apple since the company has announced that it is going to try and switch from a hardware company to a services one. This means that Apple is going to release lots of new apps, features and platforms in 2019 that are going to take the tech industry by storm.
A New Year for Apple Products
Leaving the services aside, what Apple fans really want are new products. Apple promised that the world’s most powerful Mac Pro is in the making and that it will hit the markets in 2019. Not just that, but the expectations for the company’s next-generation iPhones are also going through the roof and Apple is more than likely going to deliver since the company’s yearly sales reports have shown that Apple struggled to sell iPhone XR in certain markets of the world such as Japan for example.
Nonetheless, today we are going to check out all the devices and services that Apple is expected to launch in 2019. Therefore, strap in and get ready to find out all that Apple has in store for this year and get an idea of what device you want to purchase so that you can start setting money aside right now.
TV Subscription Service
Apple announced last year that it’s planning to launch its own TV business that will rival the likes of Netflix and HBO Go. Apple is said to launch a video streaming platform that will work similarly to Netflix, thus it will charge a monthly subscription in exchange for receiving access to premium TV shows, movies and probably exclusive content.
The only way that Apple is ever going to be to compete against the likes of Netflix is through investing in exclusive content. On the other hand, Netflix invests billions of dollars into original content every year and even though Apple is the world’s first trillion dollar company, Apple will need to cut down on other costs in order to be able to invest this much money. Therefore, in 2019 we might see Apple switching its focus into investing in TV shows instead of purchasing startup tech companies to create software and features for iOS like it usually does.
Mac Pro 2019
As we previously mentioned, Apple announced last year that it’s working on a new Mac Pro and that it will be the most powerful computer that Apple has ever made. Just like previous models, the new Mac Pro 2019 will feature a cylinder-shape and it will not ship with an attachable monitor. Furthermore, the Mac Pro will more than likely feature the latest CPU and GPU available on the market so that it can live up to the promises made by Apple.
AirPods 2
Ming-Chi Kuo is an analyst for KGI Securities and he specializes in predicting Apple’s every move. The analyst is always one step ahead of Apple and he reported last month that we should get ready to see the next-generation AirPods 2. The new earphones will feature the same simple, yet sleek design that the already existing AirPods are known for, but there will be a difference. AirPods 2 will ship with wireless charging support. This is going to be their key selling feature and Ming-Chi Kuo believes that AirPods 2 are going to be announced at the same time with the new iPhone 2019.
New iPhones
This is an obvious prediction, but we have to mention it anyways! Apple is going to follow the trend that it started in 2018 and it will launch three new iPhones. 2018 introduced iPhone XS (5.8-inches), iPhone XS Max (6.5-inches) and the iPhone XR (6.1-inches). All tech experts and analysts believe that Apple is going to do the same in 2019, but that there will be a difference in the hardware power of the new iPhones. Rumor has it that the 5.8-inches and 6.5-inches models of iPhone 2019 will feature OLED display technology while the medium sized 6.1-inches iPhone will use LCD technology.
Moving on from the display technology, all of Apple’s 2019 iPhones are going to be powered by the new A13 CPU made by TSMC (Apple’s chip manufacturer). The CPU upgrade means that the new iPhones will feature faster performances and that they will be able to take of heavy-duty tasks such as mobile gaming without any problems.
Another interesting rumor about the next-generation iPhones is that they could bring back 3D Touch. Apple removed the 3D Touch feature when it launched iPhone XR and it replaced it with a brand-new Haptic Touch feature. The reason why Apple removed 3D Touch is because no one was using this feature.
iOS app developers had no interest in introducing 3D Touch features to their apps or games and Apple decided that using this technology wasn’t worth it. However, Apple might be looking to bring back 3D Touch because Apple fans have been asking for it ever since it was removed.
Wrapping Things Up…
Even though Apple launched a lot of great devices in 2018, this year is going to be an even better one for the company and for Apple fans all around the world. The most interesting thing that Apple is going to do in 2019 is launching its own video streaming platform. We can’t wait to see what kind of TV shows and movies Apple is going to offer on its streaming platform, but if there’s something that we can be sure about, then it has to be the fact that the streaming platform is going to be polished in terms of software and that it will offer a premium user experience like all of Apple’s other software do.
