To boot your Galaxy S8/S8 Plus into recovery or download mode, you need to turn off your device. After the device is switched off, press and hold the Bixby and volume up buttons simultaneously and then hit the power button. Once your phone switches on, release the power button, but don’t loosen your grip on Bixby and volume up buttons. When you the phone’s screen turns blue and Android logo appears, you need to release the rest of the buttons.

When your Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus doesn’t see any updates or commands, the recovery screen will appear automatically. This is when you can perform tasks like clearing cache or putting your phone to factory reset.

Boot Your Phone into Download Mode

To boot your Galaxy S8 into download mode, you have to start by switching your phone off (as you have done with Recovery mode). However, this time, you are supposed to press and hold the Bixby and volume down buttons, and then hit the power button. Your phone will quickly boot into download mode, hence, you can release all the three buttons simultaneously. Next, press volume up button to continue and you can flash whatever you want in your phone using Odin or Smart Switch.
