Apple Watch is arguably the best fitness tracker also. And this is one of the reasons why people buy this smartwatch from Apple. For a picky fitness enthusiast, segments of their workout are sacrosanct. They want to know how many calories they burn after which exercise. And for this, they can segment workout mid-session on Apple Watch.
A fitness freak normally takes different activities in a two-hour session; the activities might include running, cycling or weight-lifting. While running and swimming can be tracked with laps you have covered during a certain period, but the person doesn’t have liberty to select those markers. For example, you warm up your body with a treadmill run, and then do some strenuous workout, which is followed by more exhausting power yoga session. How will you measure the calories burnt by each session.
Thankfully, Apple Watch offers a feature to segment workout mid-session.
How to Mark Segments in Workouts on Apple Watch
Step #1: Launch Workout app on your Apple Watch.
Step #2: Next, choose any workout you want to start with. On your mark, get set, go!
Step #3: When you want to make changes in the intensity of workout or you want to mark up that session (just to count calories you burnt), simply double tap anywhere on your Apple Watch Workout screen.
This will conclude your Segment 1 and the Workout screen will confirm the same.
Step #4: For a couple seconds, your Apple Watch will flash Segment information and then your workout recording will resume.
Here, you can keep on doing your laborious activities, i.e. exercise, and whenever you want to mark up workout segment, just double tap on the screen and create Segment 2, 3, 4 and more. You can break down your workout in any number of segments.
How to View Workout Segments in Activity App on Paired iPhone
Yes, you can see your workout segments in your paired iPhone’s Activity app (which is inside Health app).
Step #1: Open Health app from the Home screen of your iPhone paired with your Apple Watch.
Step #2: Now tap on Health Data from the bottom menu.
Step #3: Next, tap on Activity (which is the first square box).
Step #4: Scroll down and tap on Workouts.
Finally, open the latest workout session in Workouts. Here, you can view the time taken between start and end of a workout segment and active calories under Segments.
This trick is particularly useful for people who are working out to get over some illness; or probably it is best used by diabetics, who want to measure which fitness activity helps them more to control sugar. Make the most of your Apple Watch and stay healthy.
