You need to follow a few simple steps to transfer photos from iPhone to external hard drive on Mac or MacBook Pro/Air.
With Image Capture feature on your Mac, it has become an easier task to save iPhone photos directly to an external hard drive. Earlier, users had to save photos on their Mac and then they would backup iPhone photos on a external hard drive. This long process is now halved as users can now send their iPhone photos directly to an external hard disk on Mac.
How to Transfer Photos from iPhone to External Hard Drive on Mac or MacBook Pro/Air
Step #1: Connect your external hard drive with your Mac.
Step #2: Now, connect your iPhone with your Mac using lightning cable. Click on trust the computer if you haven’t done yet.
Step #3: Next, Open Image Capture from Launchpad on Mac.
Step #4: In sidebar under Devices, Click on your iPhone.
Step #5: Choose all photos or individual pictures you want to move from iPhone to external hard drive directly.
Step #6: Click on the destination drop down menu located next to Import To.
Step #7: From the list of options, click on others → external hard drive.
Step #8: Click on Choose, after selecting your external HDD.
Step #9: At last, Click on Import.
That’s it!
All your iPhone photos will be transferred to the external drive. Note that the process may take some time; have some patience until the photos are backed up.
