Bluetooth Not Working on Amazon Echo Devices? Here is a Fix

Amazon Alexa Bluetooth problem is quite common. If you are using different Amazon Echo devices, you must have faced that Bluetooth stops working and your devices don’t connect with Alexa.

There are seven devices from Amazon that support Bluetooth: Amazon Echo (first and second generation), Echo Dot, Echo Show, Echo Spot, Echo Plus, and Amazon Tap. Next, check the Bluetooth device with supported profile.

There are two profiles that support Bluetooth device:

Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP SNK)

By using this profile, you can stream audio from your mobile devices like smart phones or tablets to your Alexa device.

Opposite to above profile, your Echo devices are also compatible with A2DP SRC profile, which enables you to stream audio from an Echo device to a Bluetooth speaker.


Audio / Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)

With this profile, you can use hands-free voice control when a smartphone/tablet is connected to an Alexa device.

Check Batteries on your Bluetooth Devices

If you cannot remove batteries from your Bluetooth device, you can check that the device is fully charged. In case you can replace batteries, try new one.


Check for interruptions

Any electronic or wireless device coming between your Alexa speaker and Bluetooth device should be removed.

So check for microwave ovens, baby monitors, and other wireless devices and put them away. Or put your Bluetooth device close to your Alexa speaker while you are pairing it.


Clear All Existing Bluetooth Devices

For Amazon Tap

Step #1: Launch Alexa app on your smart phone or tablet.

Step #2: Tap on Menu and then choose Settings.

Step #3: Now tap on Amazon Tap device.

Step #4: Next, you need to tap on Bluetooth and then Clear.


For Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Plus

Step #1: Open Alexa app → Menu  → Settings.

Step #2: Select the device.

Step #3: Now choose Bluetooth.

Step #4: Next, tap on the device from the list and tap on Forget.

Step #5: Follow the same steps for other Bluetooth devices in the list.


For Amazon Echo Show and Spot

Use your Alexa commands here:

Step #1: Speak, “Go to settings”, or swipe down from top of the screen and choose settings.

Step #2: Tap on Bluetooth.

Step #3: Next, tap “info” icon next to the device name.

Step #4: Now you need to tap on Forget Device.

You may follow the same steps for all other Bluetooth devices available in the list.

Once all your Bluetooth devices are cleared, you need to restart your Alexa device and your Bluetooth device as well. And then pair Bluetooth devices again with your Alexa device.


Pair Bluetooth Device Once again

On Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Plus and Amazon Tap

Step #1: Launch Settings of your mobile device (phone and tablet) and turn on Bluetooth.

While doing this, stay close to your Alexa device.

Step #2: Speak, “Pair”. Your Alexa device will enter into the pairing mode.

Step #3: Now choose Alexa device from the Bluetooth settings on your smart phone or tablet.

Alexa will declare if the device is connected successfully.


On Amazon Echo Show and Spot

Step #1: Speak, “Pair my phone”. Alexa will inform you that your device is all set to pair.

Step #2: Launch Bluetooth settings menu on tablet or phone, and choose your device.

Step #3: Alexa informs you that connection is successful; then, you can stream audio from your mobile device to your Alexa device.
